The number of golfers, male and female, has been estimated to 800 000 for the province of Quebec; according to the Royal Canadian Golf Association, golf is growing at a regular pace of 2 to 3% a year since the early 1990’s in Canada. That increase concerns the number of golfers and the expenditures for golf. But, you have to take into consideration that approximately half of these golfers are considered avid golfers, meaning they play more than 7 or 8 times a year.
Recently, GOLF INTERNATIONAL conducted a survey among Quebec golfers met during the Golf Demo Tour* and/or at different golf courses in the province. In July and August 2000, 523 persons have answered the survey. The participants come from various regions such as Monteregie, Laval, Laurentians, Eastern Townships, Quebec and Beauce.
*Golf Demo Tour is a caravan that travels around the province of Quebec (80 golf courses and practice ranges were visited in 2000) allowing golfers to try out golf clubs from different manufacturers in order to make a more educated purchase.
